Counter-Logic Gaming Goes To China

Razer is pleased to support Counter-Logic Gaming, the champions of WCG 2010, Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Cologne 2011, and MLG Raleigh 2011, in their quest for world domination at the second event of IEM Season 6 in GuangZhou, China from the 1st to 5th October 2011.

League of Legends is going to have a serious force to reckon with on the battlegrounds, with a CLG roster consisting of George “HotshotGG” Georgallidis, Michael “BigfatLP” Tang, Cody “Elementz” Sigffuson, Steve “Chauster” Chau, and Brandon “Saintvicious” DiMarco.

“The whole team is really excited about representing North America in China,” enthuses Ryan Rana, Team Manager, CLG.  “They’ve been practicing non-stop since ‘BigfatLP’ came back from his hiatus after moving, and we’re going to ensure we make our fans and Razer more than proud with the results.”

CLG already took a strong win at MLG Raleigh 2011 for LoL, despite the circuit only having just picked up the game as part of their competitive line-up.  Will the team be able to repeat their victory in China?  We’ll see – whatever it is, it’s going to be an exciting tournament.

Wayi Spider: Turning regret into resolve

The massive talents of Team Wayi Spider were looking for another win to cap a fine feather in their hat; a fourth consecutive win in this year’s Taiwan eSports Open. However, it was not to be as they faced the Gama Bears in the Special Force (SF) finals. The two teams fought valiantly, each of them winning a round each by the slender score of 7:6.

The sea of yellow shirts was at a fever pitch, tears welling up from the tension, while their fingers were furiously connecting the rest of the nation to the thrilling affair before their eyes.

With the match hanging precariously in the balance, Gama Bears went for the kill in the final round, ending third round with a close score of 5:7.

“We’ll only be sad for this night. We’ll wipe away the tears and regain our faith in our ability. We’ll leave this match knowing that we tried our best but we still apologize to our hordes of fans that turned up to show support to us,” claimed Polo, the team’s charismatic captain.

“Maybe a small part of us was concentrating too much on not losing instead of focusing on winning,” he continued.

“From this day onwards, my team knows that there will be no mistaking our focus and we will take back our glory” – Polo ended off, knowing that despite their slight snag in their form, the class and quality they possess will take them back to top sooner rather than later.

ESWC updates on Day 3

It was a bitter sweet day for Team Razer at the ESWC today across all competitions. Team MYM’s DotA team are being perched on the podium to receive the bronze while Cypher from Team Serious Gaming endured an exit in the second group stage of Quake Live due to some stiff competition in fellow Team Razer player, Cooller.

Cooller then went on to meet Cypher’s team mate, Avek, in the semis only to lose to the latter. Avek will now meet long time Quake adversary, Rapha in the final match.

The Counter-Strike ladies from Team Mousesports battled well but eventually gave way to Millenium from France in the 3rd/4th place playoff.

Things are looking good for Team WeMade FOX as both Lyn and Moon have made it the finals of WarCraft 3 making it a double header between the two close team mates. The good news is that they’re both walking away with the gold and silver. Congratulations to all for a tournament well fought!

Day 2 at the ESWC

Progress has been good for most of our teams on Day 2. Our female CS team from Team Mousesports and Team Serious Gaming’s Avek and Cypher started their campaign today to great effect.

The girls narrowly lost to Brazil’s “firegamers Ladies” 14-16 but came back strongly to beat Aurora Gaming and mythiX.Space Kidettes! 19-11 on both matches to book a place in the next round.

It was business as usual for Cypher, Avek and Cooller (Team Mousesports) as they play their second round of Quake Live matches tomorrow.

In WarCraft 3 Moon and Lyn from Team WeMade FOX take their usual place in the quarter finals tomorrow while their Counter-Strike counterparts need a result against Fnatic to progress to the next round.

Team MYM’s DotA team are the closest of the lot so far to the grand prize. They’re semi-finalists in their tournament and we wish them the best of luck as they try to reach the pinnacle of the competition.

Watch out tomorrow as we have an exclusive interview with the girls from the Mousesports CS team and also some autographed product to give away. Watch this space.

Alexey ‘Cypher’ Yanusheuski talks about ESWC 2010

With a first prize of US$8,000, the Quake scene is abuzzing with perennial favourites, Cooller, Avek and Cypher all looking to go for gold in this year’s ESWC Grand Finals in Paris. Today, Alexey ‘Cypher’ Yanusheuski from Team Serious Gaming starts his first round of matches in Paris we caught up with him to hear about his preparations for the tournament.

Razer: How has preparations gone for you so far?

Cypher: So far so good. I’ve had too much McDonald’s so that isn’t too good but everything else has been fine.

Razer: How would your describe your group?

Cypher: I know I can get past this one as I know my opponents pretty well. They’re decent but I’ve played them often enough to know how to beat them. The ones to look out for in the end are still Rapha, Cooller and Avek. They’re the top guys.

Razer: How has your manager got you and your teammate Avek in shape?

Cypher: We had Dreamhack Summer in Sweden and ever since that competition we have been in Holland going through a boot camp of sorts. We played everyday against all kinds of opponents to sharpen our skills. Avek and I know that we can do really well if our mind is set right. Once we’re focused, all will be good.

Razer: Since we’re here, share with our fans some of your techniques that helps you with your gamimg.

Cypher: I use the Razer Abyssus which is a nice shape for me. It is simple and movs very smoothly for me. The shape helps me with my different techniques. When I’m using rockets or the rail gun, I switch to a claw hold and when I’m on the lightning gun, I use the palm grip for more control.

I usually mix it up but it’s best for the individual to find which grip suits him more for different situations.

At the time of writing, Cypher and his teammate from Team Serious Gaming, Avek, have beaten all of their opponents in their group to progress to the next stage.
