Japanese idol and Retro Gamer Haruna Anno is a fan of Razer

It’s really cool and unexpected when we get fans from the unlikeliest of people, places, cultures, and interests.  Today’s award of Awesome Fan Win goes to Haruna Anno – a popular Japanese idol and pin-up model, who is also an avid retro gamer.  She collects retro gaming hardware, including an arcade cabinet, as well as thousands of dollars worth of old-school video game titles like SNES hits Mother, Final Fantasy, and Street Fighter II.  Of course, she also plays modern console games and is a solid Street Fighter IV player who can hold her own on online matches.

She uses Razer Electra headphones to power her PSP and DS gaming audio on-the-go.  And she absolutely adores Razer.  So, we thought it’d be cool to get a cute photogenic fan like her to do a Razer photoshoot.  Check out her awesome photos here.  And even better still, we got her to come down to Tokyo Game Show as a Razer spokesperson.

“I love the Razer Electra headphones for its really cool design and how light it is for audio on-the-go.  I take it with me everywhere,” said Haruna.  “I’m really happy to represent Razer at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show – it’ll be a really fun time, and I look forward to meeting all the Razer fans.”

Haruna will be at the Razer booth on the 18th September, the fourth day of the Tokyo Game Show to talk to press, hold product demos, and sign autographs.  Come on down and meet her if you can.  If not, there are always these photos to be taken. :)

G-STAR KOREA: DAY 1 & 2

Great news, Razer fans! We finally arrived in Busan to attend this year’s G-Star 2010 for the first time ever. For those who haven’t heard about G-Star, it’s the biggest gaming exhibition in South Korea, and this year it’s taking place at BEXCO in Busan, South-Korea from 18th- 22nd November. Every year, the top gaming companies from Korea come to this event to unveil their latest projects, and this year we were right alongside them with a huge booth to greet our fans.

It’s no secret that Koreans are in love with StarCraft, so our StarCraft II peripherals (the Spectre, Marauder and Banshee) were naturally a huge hit. Our Korean fans even had a chance to meet a StarCraft legend: Nada from Team OGS. Players jostled for the chance to challenge him at our booth, using our StarCraft II peripherals for the competitive edge. The crowd went absolutely wild to see their idol in action, and we gave our prizes to the lucky gamers who were able to last 10 minutes in a match against Nada.

We also announced our brand new gaming keypad, the Razer Nostromo, which was showcased to the world for the first time at G-Star. Check this baby out because it’s going to help you do some serious damage.

It’s been two days of StarCraft II mayhem, gorgeous Korean babes and a lot of happy and impressed fans and gamers. Check out the photos below to catch the action for yourself!

The Razer Silent Disco

It seemed like another ordinary night at Club Lollipop in Sofia, Bulgaria, but little did some people know, it was the venue for Europe’s first and exclusive Razer Orca Silent Disco.

At the door, every guest was given a brand new Razer Orca connected to an FM transmitter. The transmitter was tuned to the club’s sound system, so when the DJ dropped the beat, the party crowd danced “in silence” until 4 in the morning. The result? Pure win.

It was a surreal experience for both the DJs and security to see all of the party people dancing without hearing any bass ’n drums.

Its positive side effect? The gratitude and love of the party-goers of Club Lollipop – they could enjoy the club atmosphere with the thumping sound experience, but whenever they took the Orcas off, they could actually talk to (not scream at) each other in the club, and they weren’t forced to go outside into the cold for a chat either.

Sorry to all the guys and gals who had to wait in line but weren’t able to come inside. The places were limited but we’ll be sure to find a large enough venue for everyone for our next party joint – you can be sure of that.

Enjoy thumping bass lines with our Razer Orca headphones. If you’re gaming, chilling on the couch, riding in a train, or even dancing in your favourite club, with our eye-catching Razer-green Orcas you will be the center of attention without leaving out that superior audio quality.
