    Are the keys mechanical?

So…the deathadder mouse got a left-handed version, which I bought and love to bits…the question is did it sell well enough to justify a version of the Nostromo for left-handers?

If so I would be all over it!

  • MacUser

Are there plans for a better mac driver, that is on par with the windows driver this time around? I really wish that the industry would stop discounting the Mac user base.

  • http://www.digitallife-ds.com DigitalLifeDS

I would have to agree with mac user. I was doing some research because My steel series keyboard just crapped out on me. I have used razer mouse before but never their keyboard. When searching their site, I found nostromo, which to me, would work perfectly with my gaming style. However, I am hesitant about purchasing it since I have not found any concrete information on, if it will work on my imac or macbook pro. So why can razer do what they did with the razr naga mouse???? Come on guys!!!

  • Drew

Yeah…Really want to buy this but will it work on a Mac?

  • tripeX

Any chance that the N52TE will get a driver/software update too? I use Win7 Pro and Home Pre 64bit and can’t use the N52TE Software, because I can change things, but it won’t be saved to the N52TE. Since the hardware seems to be the same, just with another logo on it, it would be nice to show the N52TE userbase some love with a new software/driver update in Englisch/German/French/Spanish.

  • Mark

Please bring out a left handed virsion! This along with a left handed naga is all id ever need for my MMO gaming!

  • SSerponi

I will be happy to update my Belkin n52Te buying the Razer version but I don’t want to loose all my game profiles. Does someone knows if game profiles form Belkin version will be compatible with Razer version too??

  • Bro

Will this feature a synapse onboard memory for easy use on multiple machines?

  • Caleb Miranda

    when will it support mac?

  • confused

Guessing it’s shipping out on the 29th anymore?

  • Kevin

Needs onboard memory and multi-color lighting.
I am always struck by the beauty of its design though

Got mine ordered, cause I was too chicken to ask for a review copy :D (How does one do that, anyway?) I’ll have reviews up on my YouTube channel (dedicated to the N52te/Nostromo) as soon as I get some play time with this. (http://www.youtube.com/user/grendalsh).

  • Anonymous

Just got it.. The hardware is slick, and feels an improvement over the n52te. But I’m having issues with doubled outputs. Ya’ll need to add the Nostromo to your Registration and Tech support pages, too, now it’s launched…

  • Anonymous

Does not appear to have a way to save and edit (add on to) macros once they are made.

  • Dredloc

If its the same belkin n52 software…u can definately can. I’ve been using my n52 for years and the software is very easy to use and you can macro any way you want.

  • Anonymous

Figured out the doubled output issue.. Apparently the N52te drivers conflict. Removed and reinstalled Nostromo drivers clean, and all works fine. After some testing, I’m happy to say that the Nostromo addresses and fixes pretty much every ‘not quite’ issue from the n52te. Definitely recommend it. Now to see if we can get some of the feature additions requested for the n52te rolled into the Nostromo.

  • Anonymous

It is definitely possible to save a macro; I’ve done it.. I haven’t specifically tested for editing the macro aftewards, and I’m currently on vaca, so my nostro isn’t available.. but I’ll defintely have to check this when I get back. Might go on my recommendations list to my contact :D

  • woojyee

Its not exactly the same. the n52 software allowed editing or adding to existing macros easy. The new Razer software does not allow for this. You have to re-record macros if you want to make changes. I have confirmed this with razer tech support. If sucks because I play Lineage 2 and my buffers require large complex macros to run properly. So if I mess up on a keystroke while recording I have to start over. Very annoying and a short comming of otherwise good software.

  • woojyee

I guess the export is saving the macro. U cannot add keystrokes or move keystrokes up and down to existing macros like in the n52 software. I am hoping that will be added in a future software release.

  • Emodereck

Need this for WoW on the my mac, I had almost placed an order online the other day. Then I saw mac os x was not supported… sigh, one can dream can’t he. =(

  • http://joevaughan.com Joe Vaughan

Have owned this for a month now and love it (and hate it in some ways).

I’m a Mac user and even though it doesn’t ‘support’ Mac (yet – I hope) it’s still usable.

The lack of Mac support is really puzzling given that this isn’t significantly different to the n52 which has Mac drivers… my only guess is that Belkin have complete ownership of the IPR for the Mac drivers and therefore Razer would have to either buy it off them or rewrite from scratch (and given that the hardware is co-owned it would be difficult not to impinge copyrights and patents etc. in so doing).

More to the point however, my main gripe (as also mentioned by Kevin) is there is no on-board memory and therefore the ability to save a keymap to the device (a capability of my Logitech G13 which this replaces) This is a dreadful almost inexcusable oversight on Razer’s part imho as having it would mean I could set up a keymap on Parallels or Bootcamp and then use that Keymap on my Mac.

I say “almost inexcusable oversight”… because the device itself excuses these sins… it’s an excellent piece of kit – sturdy, well sized for the hand and comfortable in lengthy use (4 hour long WoW raids for example).

If it had proper Mac support it would be perfect imho.

The circle thumb button should be cut in half and made into 2 buttons that could be pressed individually or at the same time. So that they can be bound to modifiers like ctrl, alt or shift. Been using a nostromo with MMO’s since it first came out and I can tell you the most instinctive thing to do is bind all the buttons to “1″- “=” to mimick the games action bars. Using the circular thumb button for shift gives me 2 rows of bars, but I need 3 for most games and with expansions and new abilities it’s getting close to needing instant access to 4.

  • Anonymous

Try using the b01 column for your modifiers. Using the upperthumb button (utb) means taking your thumb off the dpad. This interrupts movement (yes, the dpad is great for MMO movement) and negates being able to use modifiers w the dpad. I have shift on b01, ctrl on b06, and alt on b11. That gives 4 modifier modes vs 12 buttons (including b15, the lower thumb button), and can be used vs the dpad, the scrollwheel, and your mouse’s extra buttons. As a bonus, b01 and b06 can be pressed at the same time for Shift-ctrl mode. I use this to control 5 actionbars in WoW.

  • F0shoe

    wtf

  • Clint

The belkin N52TE has onboard memory. Does this really NOT have onboard memory? That is a huge step backwards if it in fact true. I would trust what others are saying IF they actually have one of these in hand. But to my pea sized brain it seems unlikely that there is no onboard memory.

  • Darks4ber

    We are alive :D

  • Typhoon

and i bought it for mac f**k !!!!

  • Christine

The Nostromo DOES have an onboard memory! I just bought one from our local Best Buy and not only does it have the onboard memory, but the multi-color lighting that other people commented it as not having.

  • Christine

I may be lost, but can anyone tell me IF you can adjust the palm rest pad (and if so, how)? For people with larger hands and/or longer fingers, the pad is rather close to the keys, which makes it hard(er) to put all of the keys to good use.

    Thanks!

  • Anonymous

There may be some confusion what these terms mean. On-board memory means that you save a profile to the Nostromo, then use it with another computer that doesn’t have the profile editor software installed. My experience is that doing this, the Nostro resets to the default kebyindings, implying that it does not save the last profile onboard.
Multicolor lighting means that you can change the background lighting from the default cobalt blue. The profile editor will let you change the brightness of that lighting, and the new 8 color modes use combinations of the Mode indicator colors (ie blue-green, blue-red)..

  • Anonymous

To adjust the palm rest, pull it straight up.. it’s wedged in very tight, so you’ll have to pull hard. There is one setting for larger hands, or you can leave the pad off for smaller hands.

  • Shwing

Get the old belkin n52 drivers and see if that still works… You have a slim chance…

  • CsC

What are the limitations when you use this on a mac? I’m keen to get one but I am hesitant because of the lack of official mac support.

  • Anonymous

At present, the hardware will still work as a straight USB HID keyboard – emulating the left side of a keyboard. The dpad uses the cursor keys, the upper thumb button Alt, and the lower thumb button is Space.
However, without a Profile editor, you won’t be able to change the keybindings or create/use macros. The keybindings on all the color modes will be the same, so you’ll effectively be operating with only one mode. If your game doesn’t have customizable hotkeys, then you may not be able to use the Nostromo with it like this.
For instance, in WoW, you could rebind your actionbars to the Nostromo, control 3 actionbars, and use the dpad for movement. In Starcraft2, you could set the in-game hotkeys to Left Grid, and command your units, but not be able to manage your control groups. In Lego Universe, the default layout would pretty much be useless.

So, limited functionality until Razer releases a Profile editor for Mac.

Any ideas on the issue I’m having? In WoW the key presses are not being recognized although I can use them to set key binds. Very odd.

  • Anonymous

There’s a known issue with driver conflicts. I had the same problem. Fortunately, there’s an easy fix.
This is from Razer tech suport:
“In the device manager, uninstall the Virtual device. Set the device manager to display the devices by connection. Once the virtual device is identified, they need to uninstall all of the nodes one by one.”
The Nostromo device drivers will be listed as “Virtual HID Device”. Uninstall the following:
    HID Keyboard Device
    HID-Compliant consumer control device
    HID-Compliant Mouse
Once these are uninstalled, reboot, and reinstall the Nostromo drivers.
    Good luck!

I am having the same problem with my Nostromo and yes I priviously used the n52te. I tried to remove all the n52te drivers and a clean reinstall of the Nostromo drivers, however i am still getting the double output issue.
Are there hidden files i must remove that i am not finding?

    Quick explanation of known fix:
In Device Manager, switch the view to Devices by connection. Drill to Virtual HID device under USB. Uninstall the 3 drivers listed for this device. Reboot and install the most recent driver (currently v1.01).

The thumbstick in the center of the dpad can be removed. It pulls straight away from the dpad. It’s wedged in there tight, and it’ll feel like you’re breaking it, but it will pull out clean.

  • Terry

I would also like to understand how the new Nostromo’s memory works.
it seems fine for PvE (because Pve is predictable) But for PvP its absalutly usless.(IMHO).
I play AoC, and in this Game you use Combos to attack with. A Combo is a series of swings with the Sword./ Where the Opening strike creates a setup and then a follow through swing of the sword and then a Finisher. (where most of the damage is done).
If I press the macro button for lets say “Sins of the Flesh” and then in mid Macro I am interupted, (Stun or Knockback), When I am able to get back into action the Nostromo attempts to finish that macro. Which is to late now and the Combo “Sins of the Flesh” is now on cooldown so no attack happens yet I just stand there waiting for the 2-3 seconds it would have taken to complete that attack.
While my oponets are beating me to death.. I can’t attack, I can’t run.. I just die..
My Question is…. is there away that when a Macro is interupted Can I dump that memory so that as soonas i am able to get back into the fling I can start attacking or run?

  • Macdrivers

We need MAC drivers for the Nostromo

  • Macdrivers

    WE NEED MAC DRIVERS!!!!!

  • Anonymous

This isn’t a memory issue. Remember, with the new model, the macros are not stored or interpreted on your Nostromo – the profile software recognizes the key you pressed calls up a macro, then sends that string of keypresses to your system.
By definition, the profile software’s job is to send the full string set. While you might try binding Esc and seeing if hitting that mid macro will interrupt it, this is one of the flaws of using macros outside of the game to string abilities together.
The strength of these macros is automating common routines – ie in CounterStrike, purchasing a loadout and equipping it after each death. Their weakness is a result of their strength – locking you into a string of keypresses. The macro just keeps chugging through its script regardless of what’s happening in game.
Personally I never use external macros for in-game abilities. They lack game logic, and they lock you into scripted action sets. If AoC supports in-game macros, you’d be better off using those for stringing abilities.

  • Terry

Thanks Grendalash, I think I have read your post a hundred times now. And I’m still scratching my head. It might be that I am totaly wrong with my Gameing theroy on how macros are used. I am assuming to use the n52te or the Nostromo was to simply record my key punches and asign the macro to a button on the keypad, and that the polling rate of the Game pad and my latency to the Gameing server was the only major concern.
Although Age of Conan does have some macro commands, they all seem to be text commands for chat and emotes, however there may be other commands I have not discovered yet. and still it would seem clumbsy to say the least to have to constantly place my curser into the chat window to execute a macro while in combat.and even then I am not sure that would cure the problem I am experinceing.
Bottom line is that in the n52te I was unable to execute a new macro until the previous one had completed, and yes jumping, changeing weapons, or even pressing the Esc would cancel that macro.
But on the new Nostromo I can pile up many many macros into some type of memory and even if I lay dead on the floor for 15 minutes, When I do resurect myself the Nostromo will start to complete every one of those macros I executed. Death does not cancel the macros.

  • http://cult.razerzone.com Cult of Razer

Using the Razer Nostromo’s macro feature for automating repetitive command strings is very handy for PVE scenarios, however in situations where timing is much more critical we would recommend using the keymaps feature instead of programming long macro sequences. The keymaps feature does not automate combos but it does allow you to configure more keys to make it is easier to place all the keys needed for combos in one convenient location.

  • Terry

in AoC you have key Binding so you may associate whatever function you wish to any key on your keyboard. So Keymaping can be done on a 10 dollar keyboard to make the important keys more excecible. The purpose of a Game Pad is to monipulate macros. Although I would agree that macros do get a bit clumbsy in PvP, there are some simple functions that could make Macros very usable in PvP.
    1. Put the memory back into the Nostromo hardware, and create a way to minipulate that memory through the macro. ( have a setting I can set for priority of the Macro) (where a higher Priority can overide a lower Priority). Also a Common Priority Rateing where I can play some common Keypunch that can be played at same time a macro is being played out, without interupting.(such as Tab targeting) Tab targeting should never interupt a macro.Nor should Scraffing.
    2. Have the Nostromo not dump the whole macro to the OS. Instead it is played to the OS 1 keypunch at a time.( this way I may interupt the playback at any step of the macro).
    3. Put the Choice of Pole Rateing back onto the configurator. and allow it to be minipulated inside the macro by way of a command line. ( some macros I will need are short and very quick while others are longer and will need more time to function correctly.)
4.Fix the Configurator to allow me to call up a macro and edit it without having to re write the whole macro.
Bottom line is to allow me to minipulate all functions of the macro prior to going to the OS.

  • Anonymous

While gamepads support macros, so do gaming keyboards. The primary purpose of gamepads is for a gaming-centric and customizable interface, not macros.
    1. The n52te had what you’re asking for, and couldn’t do what you want. This one of the reasons the keypress interpretation was brought back to the OS. Now, you can have a macro firing in the background while pressing other buttons (personally tested this). There is a current limitation of only on repeating macro, but this is being addressed.
    2. The macro editor dumps the macro string as fast as you programmed it to. If you don’t put pasues between keypresses, then the whole string goes. If you put a 2s pause between abilities, then it’ll run for 2s. The trick here is that you can’t have macros not be interrupted by other keypresses, but at the same time have the ability to interrupt a macro.. it’s either/or.
    3. For constant input devices like a mouse’s position, 1000Hz (1ms) polling is useful. For keypresses, anything faster than the USB default of 125Hz (8ms) is noise. At most, 1000Hz polling (1ms) will register your keypress 7ms (0.007s) sooner than the default 125HZ (8ms) polling. Even the best Sc2 players only issue at most 2 commands per second and that’s on your normal pokey 125Hz keyboard.
    4. This one I agree with.. having to rewrite a macro in order to edit it is annoying. At the same time, it would be nice if we could have an editor option for LUA type macros. Instead of recording each up/down and pause, record text strings, ie ‘/dance’ , rather than /down, /up,d down,d up, a down, etc…

    Any update for Mac Driver?

  • Fix_Nostromo

This product does not execute macros properly. If you have a macro running while holding down any key, the nostromo will lockup when the macro has completed 1 cycle until you release that key.

Example… you bind a macro to a key to press 1 2 3 4 on a loop and you’re using the directional pad to move your character. when the macro hits 4… your nostromo (and your character) will freeze until you take your thumb off the directional pad. What this means essentially is that you cannot keep your character moving while a macro is running.

On a side note, if you run a macro on the N52te… pressing any key will stop the macro. There is no way to toggle a macro on/off using the same key. So what this means is that once you start a macro, you can’t touch the device or the macro will stop! Just horribly executed drivers on both devices.

  • Nerdling

A few unanswered questions have prevented me purchasing Nostromo and I’m hoping someone here may have the answers. None are deal breakers but I’d prefer to know in advance of making a purchase.

Firstly I read here that currently it does not support any Lua type macro creation currently. Can and will that functionality be added in future via software upgrade?

Secondly I read here that the Nostromo currently is unable to save profiles to on board, again can and will that functionality be added in future?

Finally can someone confirm it is possible to assign a key combination instead of a single key to the each key map. e.g. pressing 01+06.

  • MacDrivers

I bought it to use on my Mac to play WoW. It arrived last night. Even thought it does not have mac drivers, all keys work as if they were from a normal keyboard (q-r, a-d, z-c, left-shift, caps, tab and space bar). The only button that seems not to work is the thumb button near the directional.

What I’m gonna try to do today is to set a addon that stores keybindings based on character profile. I’m kinda disappointed by the fact that razer did not provide drivers for mac. I feel like I’m losing a lot of functionality.

  • Anonymous

    1. You can create macros that pass LUA code, but it’s clumsy. A scripting macro editor would be nice, but is currently not specifically supported.
    2. The Nostromo does not appear to have any on-board memory. Profiles and macros are stored on your computer and executed in software. Unless Razer snuck some onboard memory onto the Nostromo and isn’t using it yet, I doubt we’ll see this. It’s easy enough to keep the drivers and profiles on a thumbstick if you want to go mobile with your Nostromo. However, I can see some scenarios where having the Nostromo be self-contained would be preferable.
    3. If you mean can you bind combo values to a single Nostro button (ie Shift-1), then at present this is not supported, though I have heard rumors to support this in the past. If you mean can I bind single values to Nostro buttons(ie Shift on b01), and use those as modifiers to other Nostro buttons by pressing two buttons at once (ie b01 + b06), then yes, this currently works, and I use it all the time.

  • Terry

Thanks Grendalsh. Sorry its taken me awhile to get back to the forum. I did not get an email notice of your response.
as for your opening statement.. I did not relize this…I assumed being that I can create a Keymap on a cheap 10 dollar keyboard that The game pad was primarily used for macros.
    1. Yes I used the n52te until I wore it out. ( about 3 years of hard PvP playing. ) and it did what I wanted it to do (with some lag). (only needing to worry about 1 macro when interupted with stuns and knockbacks).

    2. I have noticed that even if I can not Tab Target while performing a Macro I can reach waaaaaaay over on my keyboard and still tab target. This is clumbsy and not very accurat, but I have noticed that even though the Nostromo won’t do it the keyboard will. This includes right shift to sprint and several other functions.
Purhaps I should rethink how I setup my keyboard and learn to play the Nostromo with the idea of having it run macros in the background while keypunching other things. Or would it be better to have 2 game pads? “Ok that makes me dizzy”

  • Nerdling

Thanks Grendalsh, I posted here after being unable to find the answers watching your video’s, your doing a better job selling the Nostromo than The Razer Guy.

re. 3 No the scenario/problem I have in mind is that the Nostromo compared to it’s “predecessors” now has 8 shift states/maps you can switch to on the fly. This should expand the number of possible key combinations a lot but unless you use a single key to cycle through all 8 states (or the DPAD) you will have to use one key for each state.

Instead of having to use one key for each state I’m wondering if you could for example use 01,06,11 as say S1, s2 and s3 but then also have 01+06 and 06+11 as S4 and s5 since as you point out in your video’s you can hit two of these keys at once with your pinky.

  • Njosephg

For everyone who has a mac, go download “Controllermate”, its $15 but it’s our only option since razer SUCKS and doesn’t has a mac driver.

  • Anonymous

    Ahh.. an interesting question..
Let’s call what you’re proposing metabinding. That is, b15 might be Toggle Blue mode, but Shift+b15 would be Toggle Green Mode, ctrl+b15 = Red mode, etc.
At present this type of combo binding is not supported by the Nostro software, but it’s definitely something to put on my requested features list.. Since the keypress interpretation occurs in software, it might be possible.
While having a single key for each mode would be preferable (and faster) than cycling through them, that’ s a lot of keys in each Mode to dedicate just to mode switching. The built in Cycle keymaps function works, but forces cycling thru all 8 modes, even if you’re only really using 3 of them.
An alternate method for toggling between modes is to use the scrollwheel. Manually set scrollup and down to the next/previous modes, and you can crate your own loop, ie Blue -Red – Green- Blue

I get an *No razer nostromo connected. Application will now close* message when i try to start up configurator. Im running windows 7 (64). Already tried to delete HiD devices and reinstall, didn’t fix the problem.

  • Anonymous

Might be known issue of Nostro sometimes not being recognized if plugged in before system bootup. Try leaving the Nostro unplugged during bootup, then plug it in and see if Win recognizes new device. If it does, then try installing newest driver/firmware and launching Profile Editor.
On a side chance… have you tried updating your firmware already?

  • Anonymous

Interesting solution. Not having a Mac, I can’t try this. Any chance of you putting together a how-to vid?

  • Njosephg

I can try to put something together its pretty difficult to get used to at first, but again it’s our only option, works great though.

Yeah, driver version is 1.03 and firmware is 1.02. Tried unplugged bootup. Win recognizes the device and istalls drivers if i plug to a different USB slot. Windows sees the device and it actually works on defaults i just can’t use configurator because it doesn’t see nostromo for some reason, really frustrating =/

If you can put it up on YouTube, definitely pm me and I’ll favorite on my channel. Hate that I don’t have any Mac how-to’s.

  • AaronFang

I’v got the same issue on my office computer. And it works at home. The reason I think is I have no administrator access to my office computer. So maybe you can try to run nostromo configurator as administrator. and see if it works.

  • El Rb

Do u have windows 7 Professional at work? Cos I have one at work

  • Glok

Are Mac users saying this works without drivers anyway?

    Any limitations?

    When are Mac drivers available?!

hi there, is there anyway to configure the d-pad such that it’s a joystick?

  • Snapikk

i’m sorry but do anybody have problem with the speed of Razer Nostromo? the key execution is very slow. my fingers tiping faster than nostromo thinks.

  • Snapikk

where is a problem with razer nostromo i have.
the default profile works very well, but if i’m changing the default keys, the execution of them becomes very slow. problem is in typing two diffrent buttons. when you press default key+assigned key in rotation, it’s ok, but when you press two assigned keys in rotation, it began to think slowly, you could press them many times and take off your fingers from Nostromo, it continues typing. i will wait for new drivers, but till then, configurator doesn’t meen a crap.

I have noticed that if I nervously double or triple tap a button Nostromo seems to lag out or seem to trip over itself. sometimes forceing me to jump or move my character before it will attempt to execute the function of that buttun, and then attempts to complete that function as many times as I taped the button.

  • Snapikk

hey, i’ just wondering, do u have the same problem’s as i do. how assign keys works? when you assign over default keys new ones, my nostromo seems to have one big problem, it works like shit:) for example when you press as fast as you can two assign buttons it works very slow, it seems like it’s hard to execute them and it just remembers how many times you pressed it and when you stop pressing them, it continuous to execute them without you.

can you do next thing assign new buttons over default and try to press them really fast and watch how fast they will work?

  • Ntm_ua

Bought that as an alternative to g13. I would say this one is even more comfortable and ergonomic-oriented (at least for me). Unfortunatelly – software sucks a lot. No LUA, horrible macro perfomance (i really don’t know guys, why would you add 1ms delay as macro scripting feature if the only possible thing your device can produce is ~200 msec?)
Besides that in default configuration, without any additional keymaps and stuff this is usefull. Any macro/customization – horrible perfomance.

  • CuriosityKilled

ok, first question… i have the driver for my nostromo installed, as i have windows 7… why did my razer keyboard come with an installation cd for the key commands, but i cant do shit but in game with W.O.W. on the keybinding menu… when i do so, it fucks up everything on my computer…. i know i didnt word that in the most amazing way, but if anyone could help, it’d be greatly appreciated!

FYI, v2.0 Configurator is out for the Nostromo, and it supports binding to modified keypresses (ie shift-1, alt-2, Ctrl-g, etc). Pro tip – run the configurator as Admin, or you may get the less than useful “No Razer Nostromo connected’ error.

  • Meezle

I bought the N52te when it came out and we were promised updated software/drivers to fix all the problems with it.  Those drivers never came even after endless promises on your support forum.  Then months later the support forum is completely disabled and even the n52te section on the Belkin website is completely removed.  Now I just discover that you designed a completely new version of the Nostromo instead of fixing the one that so many people got suckered into buying expecting it to be as functional as it’s predecessor.  This is very upsetting.  I am mad that I bought your product and got little to no support for it and instead of fixing it all you did was design new hardware.  Due to your lack of support in the past (btw good luck on those mac drivers guys, we got promised firmware/driver updates for a long time and they NEVER came!) I refuse to support this product.  Instead I am stuck with this useless n52te that never did what it was promised to do.  Thanks Belkin/Razer!

Thank you very much for building such an awesome device! I’m really looking forward to the day when I can pack this instead of my keyboard! Please give us Mac and Linux drivers, or better yet open-source the firmware, so we can build custom firmwares with our settings baked in. Thanks so much!

  • Phunkhead

Im having D-pad problems since the upgrade from v1.02 to v2.0.
Im using the d-pad to move around. For example, after pressing backwards, the key stays active until i press backwards again.
    Anyone else having problems?

  • Anonymous

I’ve noticed this problem as well, most prominently in Lego Universe where the left/right would stick until ‘toggled’ off. I’ve begun noticing it in WoW recently, but not as badly.

  • Lokpez

Anyone have a solution to the “toggle” problem with the thumbstick? I am also having issues in WoW?

  • Phunkhead

My issues are also in wow. I tried the default d-pad keys for moving and the QWES keys, its no difference. Help plz

  • Anonymous

FYI, I have the v1.01 driver and firmware hosted on MediaFire at http://www.mediafire.com/myfiles.php#k7w6zy6h9nqzw,1
I suspect the issue is with the firmware, if anyone wants to roll that back and verify.

  • Phunkhead

Anyone got a link for downloading v1.02?

I reinstalled driver v1.03 and went back to firmware v1.01.

  • Pewpew

There is still a problem with these drivers. In WoW if you move forward, then switch to moving in a diagonal direction you cannot go back to running forward , it just doesn’t register the dpad unless you completely let go of the dpad and press up again. This is a gigantic hindrance in any high level play and the issue was not prevalent when I had 1.03/1.01. Is there any way you can fix this soon?

  • Pewpew

I can’t even find the 1.03 drivers to revert to… this is crippling my gameplay Razer.. can you at least let us download 1.03 off your site again?

The Nostro will work without the drivers, with all keys in their default values. For the keypad, this is the left side of a standard keyboard ie [tab]qwer, [shift]asdf, etc. The dpad defaults are the cursor arrows. If you check screnshots of the configurator you’ll see all the default keybinds. If you rebind your game to these keys, it wont matter what the actual values are only where on the Nostro you bound an ability. So you CAN use the Nostro on any device that rcognize usb keyboards (even Android 3.1), you just cant rebind the keys or use macros.

This is so fucking sad.. Razer keep spit out new after new after new products. But they don’t give a fuck and take care about their “old” products.
They are just looking forward to the next meaningless “cool design” shit they are releasing. AKA they don’t give a shit about their customers after they get a sellnumber and cash in,Because if they would…The drivers would have been out long time ago………

  • grumpycamper

Hey guys you know it does work on the Mac. You just can’t customise the keys before the driver’s out but it does work.

  • Ageek

Do Razer think to release a driver for Linux also?
I have a Razer Nostromo and I play QL from Linux with it.
I am using and old buggy Belkin “driver” i’ve patched to recognize the Nostromo but it cannot use the entire potential of the device. I think that Razer can make a decent driver with small effort. I dont need the flashy interface that windows has. Please Razer. DO IT.

well this is a big let down. I will keep my naga and my vespula but I will not buy any other razer products from this point forward. I have talked 2 of my friends into buying naga’s instead of something else but not anymore. You guys can talk all your ‘innovation’ and ‘for the gamers’ stuff all you want but waiting this long for something like drivers for a product is ridiculous.

So, I’ve got a Nostromo, and it appears that you lot have no intent on releasing the mac drivers that you promised this community ages ago on the date that you promised them on.
So please tell me: Should I hold onto this, or keep it to box up as a very nice winter holiday present for a really good PC-using gamer friend?

The Razer Nostromo Mac drives is qualified for OS X 10.5 and 10.6. The driver has
full functionality with OS X 10.7, but have not been fully qualified for use
with Apple’s newest OS. Users might experience slight issues with keymap
switching in rare cases. We are working to get OS X10.7 qualification with the
Nostromo Mac drivers with the next release.

  • Glaekit

Anyone else having difficulty with binds containing function keys triggering mac shortcuts (these shortcuts are turned off in system preferences and don’t work on my regular keyboard)?

  • Anonymous

Once ya’ll have a gotten a handle on the new Mac drivers, i would be interested in hosting a guest review/how-to video on The 2 Ring. I don’t own a mac, or I would do one myself.

  • Glaekit

Also the command key bound to the mouse wheel click doesn’t seem to work.

  • Pickngrass

Well I bought the Logitech G13 and it works great with OSX 10.7.   I recommend giving up on Razer and going with the Logitech product because it offers very nice features and programmability and it just plain works.

  • Abc

LoL, they were just too lazy to make a new icon… but the new drivers are on the Razer site.  Just go to the windows drivers link, and click on drivers.

  • thoubo

Thanks for the mac drivers :)

  • Glaekit

No one else having any issues with the new mac drivers?

  • charlie seen

    I am confused.
First of all there is only instructions to install on windows.

Anyways i download drivers, install, restart.  then look for the icon to open the software.  cant find it??
with my mouse, the icon shows in system preference.  also is an “uninstall” icon in the utility folder.
But the nostromo?  i see nothing.  nowhere.  whats wrong.

  • Hedegaard Cornelius

    pleace make the keymaps re-nameable

  • Glaekit

Finally got an answer from Razer saying that they’re aware of the issue.
Despite having the mac function key shortcuts turned off in system
preferences; the Nostromo seems to be triggering the shortcuts and as a
result I can’t bind any function keys. The obvious work round is to
bind other keys but I’m literally out of keys : /
Hopefully a fix will come soon given the time already waited for the drivers themselves.

  • Arwinin

I downloaded the new Mac driver (for lion) but it still doesn’t recognize the device. I now have a glorified USB number pad.

  • Dean Moran

LOL! all of you waiting for mac drivers—-you’re noobfood. Get a real machine. Maybe look into getting yourself the new Razer Blade and scrapping your silly macbook pros for parts.

  • arwinin

Would like to retract this comment.  I was using an old n52te (not sure of the firm ware) that used the old belkin n52te editor.  Bought a new nostromo, and it works perfectly with the new driver on 10.7  Thanks for the update.

  • TeddybearGrimm

I just bought this and have been ALL OVER the web trying to fix this error of “no razer nostromo connected”. I have found nothing helpful. I installed the driver and firmware update as admin, I have wiped and reinstalled the drivers, I have done everything I can think to do and that I’ve been told to do and nothing makes this thing’s configurator work. It’s lit up, but it’s not doing what it was made to do. If anyone can think of a way to get that dang configurator working I’ll keep it, but otherwise it’s going right back to Best Buy.

  • TeddybearGrimm

How did you get the configurator to work? You runnin x64?

  • Anonymous

Make sure the Profile editor software is set to ‘Run as Admin’. Lame, but it works.

  • TeddybearGrimm

yeah ive tried that a million times

  • Jchimey

Does anyone know how to adjust the wrist pad? The pdi file that gives you instructions really doesn’t help.

  • Anonymous

It pulls straight up, away from the base. It’s on tight, so you’ll have to give it a good tug. If you search on YouTube there should be vids of folks demonstrating this.

  • http://twitter.com/PoCoPhD Carl J. Stoneham

When will the drivers be updated for Lion? I can’t currently map function keys because the Nostromo insists on emulating a the secondary functionality of all f-keys. F1 = “decrease brightness” etc

  • http://twitter.com/zvenzzon Zvenzzon

So much hate with mac users. Great keybord FOR PC ;) Don’t play computer games on mac. Capish?

  • Avykins

Please release a new thumbstick with some decent grip on it. Since you can remove the thumbstick and use the dpad just release a new thumbstick on its own.

I swear I am half tempted to super glue some sandpaper to mine.
Also if you ever do re-release it please, for us smaller handed people, give us more adjustments. I am currently having to play without the nice wrist pad and just do with the bare plastic otherwise keys are always out of reach.

  • August Cornelius frost Schilli

And the other way arround for us bigger handed people.

  • August Cornelius frost Schilli

hey razer, just a few things i would like you to fix.
    1. there is alot of latency on the nostromo, when i tank in wow i need to cast spells at the right moment, and there can go up to 5 seconds after i press the macro popping my cooldowns, this can mean a wipe.
2 the macros: you need to make a “inset keypress here” buttom, i hate to have to insert a “smart shortcut” and change it, also you sould make a option to make a macro open programs, like you have on the single keys.
And wtf is the joystick funktion 1-24, and what sould i use the increace/decreace of the axis to?
you need to make a video, learning people how to use the software.
last but not least, you need to remake the “comfortabe wrist pad” cuz it’s not, i have big hands and its a pain using it out of the holes to be able to play “comfortably”
    hope you’ll get it fixed.

  • Anonymous

I use the Nostromo for every class and role in WoW, and in several other games, and I’ve never experienced latency issue related to the Nostromo itself.. This sounds like a problem with your system and not the Nostro..

  • August Cornelius frost Schilli

I tryed it with my frends computer’s too, its the Nostromo, im certain.

  • Anonymous

So your Nostro ALWAYS has a 5s delay when using abilities, or only when your system is being taxed during a major fight? If the problem is the Nostro, then you will see the delay all the time. Test this by using the nostromo in a text editor. All keypresses are interpreted by the configuration software, so if you’re only seeing the delay when your system is taxed, then it’s because your system is taxed. It is possible you have a bad unit..

  • August Cornelius frost Schilli

there’s a delay in noteblock, when im pressing keys like i was playing wow.

  • Layla

Wondering if anyone else is having issues using the n52te in SWTOR.

  • Anonymous

Then it’s possible you have a bad unit.

  • Anonymous

Been using the Nostro with Tor since beta.. no problems. What problems are you having?
There were some gotchas with setting keybindings between ToR and the Nostro, but they were mostly ToR UI related, not with the Nostro itself.

  • Ljcollins

People are so Dumb sat there bitching about Drivers that “Don’t Exist” when I have seen the Drivers there with my own eye’s when i Downloaded my PC drivers lol

  • Makinai

It seems fantastic, but i’m a left handed gamer. please make one that i can use and i’ll deffinitely buy it!!

  • acediamond

Buy PC and never again worry about DRIVERS lmao

  • Mac Nostromo

In love with my Nostromo. It’s been perfect for about three months now. However, performed the recent driver update for the Nostromo and the Naga (for Mac) and now the Nostromo software is freezing my Mac and demands a force shut down. Any other Mac users experiencing this? If I do (sometimes) get in to the software, I can’t make keybinds anymore either. The Naga seems to be performing as it should. Thanks in advance for any tips/replies.

  • Alex

Any Chance of this Product Receiving Multicolor Lighting in the near future? I’m happy with everything else looking razer green, yet this is just a default standard blue

  • Anonymous

The last driver updates for the Nostro were several months ago. If you mean the recent Synapse 2.0 update, the Nostromo is not listed as a supported device. You may need to reinstall the Nostromo configurator?

  • Mac Nostromo

I did mean the recent Synapse 2.0 update. Thank you, Grendalsh. My Nostromo is working now. Gosh, this might be really ignorant of me but it seems that when Synapse 2.0 is open, the Nostromo would not work. I closed out of Synapse 2.0, re-installed the Mac drivers for the Nostromo and everything is working now.

Is it the case that if Synapse 2.0 is open, the Nostromo will not work? Sorry, I’m not too good with this stuff (obviously).

Anway, kudos for the Razer e-mail correspondence as well. Thanks for keeping in touch with me, guys.

  • Left-handed

+1   I have wish a left handed version for years now…

  • allyoudead

Im having an issue while playing wow since i have started using tthis controller my toon is randomly dropping the flag in BG’s anybody else had this problem? note i dont have any macros or hotkeys set to affect flagcarrying

  • Na

Ok, so I recently bought the Nostromo and I cant suggest it to anyone.  I’m actually questioning whether or not I should continue to patronize Razor if they have problems like these.   There is a serious Quality Control issue.

Buttons get software stuck and this means that sometimes it will even get stuck in a certain profile when using an on press profile switch….   Its ridiculous when your playing a game and you need to get your micro on and you cant cause you have to mess around to get it working again.  I know its software because if  I mess with the driver, it will start working right again.   There ahve been multiple reports on this and we havent heard back from razer…   If you already have one of these, the best solution anyone has come up with is to revert to the first firmware version.   It seems to solve this issue…

i been using this on my mac to play wow. i love this thing.. thanks for mac drivers.

  • Chris Brus

Make a red and green one so it can match the Razer Naga Molten Edition and the Razer Naga Hex.

  • Maxximoo

I just got the Nostromo and am having the exact same problem, making it basically useless to me.

Kinda upsetting that it’s been a problem for at least 7 months and they still haven’t fixed it.

  • onyaneez

I don’t know if anyone else had this issue but I decided to post my solution here incase. Mainly, because I found forums that had this problem but no one had an answer for me. (looking at the links below
    http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/61589-3-belkin-razer-n52te-nostromo
    http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/866501-Razer-Nostromo-quot-No-Device-Detected-quot )

    Issue:
I installed my nostromo onto a windows 7 64-bit OS and downloaded the drivers from the site (asked me to restart my machine, so I did), than I added the firmware from the razer site and got ready to kick some CrimeCraft ass. The firmware was hanging for some time (15 mins) so i restarted my computer again. That is when I noticed my device stopped lighting up. nothing was working on it but my computer recognized it in my device manager. Really didn’t want to RMA this because I am super lazy and stubborn butthole when it comes to mailing things out.
    Solution:
I run dual partitiions of Windows 7 64-bit. So i rebooted and plugged the device in on my second OS on my hard drive. Still no lights (it should be lit because of it merely having power going to it). I re-downloaded the drivers and the hardware lit up after about 5 minutes. From their I updated the firmware after a restart and it worked fine on my other partition. Brought it back to my main partition and it lit up like normal.

Hope this helps someone if they need it. And if you have a MAC, you can probably afford someone to come out and look at it instead

  • August Cornelius frost Schilli

when you interrupt the firmware, you basicly erace the bios on you’r device and then stop it from installing a new one, you’r lucky you got it working again.

  • David Levin

please make a color customizable one or make a green nostromo to go with my blade
