The 7th season of the ESWC Masters were held from October 13th to 19th in Athens, the birthplace of the Olympic games. Hosted during the Athens Digital Week the ESWC Masters were at the same time the two first major international e-sports tournaments in the history of Greece.
Our Team Razer e-olympians Razerj, Cypher and Av3k attended this event and we asked them about their expectations for the tournament before they arrived in Athens.

I always go to an event to perform as good as possible and my goal is always to win the tournament. The last week I have been practising in Cologne (Germany) with Shane ‘rapha’ Hendrixson, he plays for SK. I hope this preperation will turn out good enough to get me at least a top 3 place, and that during the tournament itself I can get the extra bit of form to get real far.
People maybe expect me to easily win the tournament but that is not true. This event will be a new challenge and the competition again is very strong. I have practised at home mainly for this event, and also a few days in Moscow (Russia). It was hard to prepare because the tournament was announced only a few weeks ago, and I had a holiday planned. Let’s see how it works out and if I can continue my winning streak!
30.000 US$ and a direct qualification spot for the ESWC Grand Final 2009 were on the line in the two tournaments of the ESWC Masters of Athens in the disciplines Warcraft III and Quake III.
Competing in Quake III our Razer e-Olympians did their best to outplay the competition. In the end Av3k took 3rd place, closely followed by his Razer Teammates Cypher on the 4th and RazerJ on the 5th place.

The event was for sure successful despite not winning it. The guys both made the semi finals and finished 3rd and 4th. It was a very strange event full of surprises….it was again a very solid performance by the guys. This is top sports, and it’s impossible to win all events.
